New Year, New You!

A New Year brings about New Year’s resolutions and, of course, the first thing on everyone’s list is “losing weight” or “going on a diet”. I am here to say forget about the resolutions, toss them out the window right now — I’ll wait.
Now that that’s done, let me share with you what has helped me. I have struggled for years with my weight and always knew I needed to do something about it. However, I was not ready to do whatever that something was until one day, in June 2008, I woke up, took a good look at my self and decided today is the day.
Well, did I mention that the fact that I was 39 and 40 was right around the corner had anything to do with it? Either way, I realized that was the day and, from that moment, I began my lifestyle transformation.
What works for me may not work for you. However, the fact that I have lost 35 pounds is enough for me to want to share my journey with you. I will not say the old cliche, “If I could do it, you can too.” But what I will say is once you’re ready to do it, you can do it. I am a living testament to that.
I get my exercise by going to the gym every morning before work, and I am mindful of what I eat. Fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, healthy snacks and lots of water are just a few of the changes I have made. I avoid my weaknesses like sweets, chocolates and other junk foods. But yet, I use recipes to help be more creative with meals. It’s never too late! Start now and together we can do it.
Until next time….
Feel better, Look better, Be better.
