One of the best things we can do for ourselves it to spend time as wisely as possible. This notion is never far from the back of our minds when making daily decisions. In most instances we only have a certain allotment of time to get stuff done before it’s time to move on. Deciding what daily tasks are the most important can play a huge role in our often hectic lifestyles.
Spending time in the kitchen is all too often seen as a burden. I have heard this more times than I care to count. This rationalization is hard for me as a chef to relate to, since seemingly not much else can give me the pleasure, satisfaction and health as just a small amount of kitchen dedication can.
With such a vast array of gadgets, cookbooks and prepackaged food items all promising to save time, it’s no wonder that we have been convinced that spending extra time in the kitchen is not necessary. This however could not be further from the truth. The World Health Organization estimates that 2.7 million deaths are attributable to a diet low in fruits and vegetables every year. Cooking healthy meals on a daily basis, whether it is for one or six, can immeasurably improve all aspects of life in both the long term and short term, thus making diet one of the leading preventable causes of death worldwide.
If I could tell you how to achieve better health and better relationships, all while saving money, would you be interested in that? Well the answer is simple – try spending a little more time in the kitchen.
