The Florida Peanut Producers Association recently awarded scholarships to four lucky students. The scholarships were worth $1,200 each. Normally, the association only awards two per year, however, they had 17 outstanding applicants this year and they felt more students were worthy of the award.
“This group of students are very deserving of these scholarship awards” says Ken Barton, executive director of the Florida Peanut Producers Association. “They continue to demonstrate excellent academic achievement, community service and have a strong desire to be successful in their plans for the future.”
The winners were Carly Barns, Greenwood, FL; Kayla Toole, Grand Ridge, FL; Justin Hodge, Marianna, FL; Trinity Williams, Bascom, FL.
To be eligible for the FPPA scholarship the applicant must certify that someone in his/her family is a Florida peanut farmer and winners must attend a Florida community college or university. The winners were selected based on their scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities and their personal agricultural experience.
