How can Foursquare help you?

Yesterday I did an overview of what Foursquare is and how it works. The great thing about Foursquare is it’s free to use and growing in popularity. Just like Facebook and Twitter, Foursquare has social networking components, but it also uses location based services (simply put – GPS) to function when you check in at different establishments in your city.
So, the big question – how can Foursquare help you? If you’re the owner of any type of business from a restaurant, retail store, farm, farmers market, u-pick farm, etc. – Foursquare can help you create some additional awareness, at no charge to you.
So HOW can Foursquare help you?
By enabling you to manage your establishment on Foursquare, you are able to create specials, reward the people that frequent your business the most and have deals to entice new customers to come to your establishment who are in the vicinity of where you are located.
People that use Foursquare get into it. They love gaining mayorships and earning new badges. And by creating specials, tagging and categorizing your business the right way, you help these users get a better experience out of Foursquare. Users will remember your business better if you offer incentive to them and one of the biggest ways to increase your customer base is by word of mouth and Foursquare helps that.
Here are the first steps you need to take:
1. Go to foursquare.com and search for your business. If it doesn’t come up, check the location in the upper right hand corner and make sure that is correct.
2. Once you locate your business, under the name and address, there is a link “Are you the manager of this business?”. Click on that.
3. From there, follow the steps and instructions. Very self-explanatory and easy to use.
It is literally that easy to take advantage of Foursquare. And while you’re at it if you have a phone capable of using Foursquare, download it or visit the mobile site and start using it! What better way to reach the Foursquare users than becoming one yourself? Then you’re able to understand and see more of what they want.
