4th of July Foods

With the 4th of July fast approaching (which means that the year is nearly halfway done – how did that happen?) I’m thinking about my holiday menu already. Yes, I love a good party and the 4th is a great time to gather with friends to celebrate our nation’s independence.
What’s my ideal 4th menu? First, I like a nice juicy hamburger with American cheese, a thick slice of ripe tomato, some lettuce, kosher dill chips, and steak sauce. On the side, but hardly afterthoughts, a little potato salad, some fresh corn on the cob, baked beans and a nice salad with fresh veggies. For dessert, watermelon and something ooey gooey and yummy.
Most people have family recipes (even if that “recipe” means opening the can of baked beans and heating them on the stove) but I thought that this year I would look to our website for some suggestions to my favorite, classic 4th of July dishes.
However you celebrate, remember that we have a number of recipes which utilize agricultural products from Florida that are sure to make your 4th a hot party! Just head to www.Florida-Agriculture.com, click on the Consumers tab and scoll down to the Recipes link.
Have a safe and happy 4th!
