Epcot’s Fresh from Florida Weekend 2010 – Verti-Gro, Inc.
|June 14, 2010||Posted by admin under Agriculture, FAPC, Farms, Horticulture|
For the past two years, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to work with FAPC members at the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. This year’s Fresh from Florida Weekend was wonderful – we had 12 FAPC agribusinesses there! I’ll be spotlighting those members throughout the year.
Verti-Gro, Inc. is a great company. Owners Barbara and Tim Carpenter promote Florida agriculture through the use of their vertical growing systems. These containers are quite impressive. Check out this year’s display at Epcot’s Fresh from Florida Weekend.
In addition to participating in the festival two years in a row, Verti-Gro partners with Epcot to provide vertical systems in the Land pavilion. It is so fun to ride the boat in the Living with the Land exhibit and realize that Florida farmers are a part of the landscape there!
One of the cool things about vertical growing is that you can grow a variety of items in a smaller space than in-ground gardening. By using hydroponic technology, these plants flourish in stackable pots. Verti-Gro sells to commercial producers as well as individual growers and the systems can vary in size depending on the need of the grower.
Other Verti-Gro products include fertilizer, growing media and supplies like timers and pumps. The company is located at 15000 S.E. U.S. Highway 441/27 in Summerfield, Florida.
