Epcot’s Fresh from Florida Weekend 2010 – Cross Creek Honey

Nancy and Nick Gentry, the dynamic mother-son duo and owners of Cross Creek Honey, are passionate about bees and honey. Located in Interlachen up in North Florida, the Cross Creek Honey team treasures the bees on the farm.
At Epcot’s Fresh from Florida Weekend this year, attendees were given the visual treat of viewing a live honey bee display, complete with a queen. Watching the bees was really interesting – how they interacted, how they moved, following the queen – and quite educational.
On the Cross Creek website you can order different types of honey, depending on what is in season; two favorites are orange blossom and tupelo. Tupelo is one of those great honey varieties that is rich and highly prized. (Whatever your favorite is, honey tastes great on biscuits!)
The Gentrys describe the honey gathering process on the website as well. It is fascinating how they gather and strain this delicious, sweet product. For more information and to purchase honey, check http://crosscreekhoneyco.com or call 386-684-3433. You will “bee” glad that you did.
