The last weekend in January brings Dade City’s Annual Kumquat Festival. This event celebrates the kumquat, a fruit that is unique in that the peel is sweet and the flesh is tart.
On Saturday, January 29 people will flock to Dade City to pay homage to – and sample – this delicious little fruit. As an added bonus, Fresh from Florida member Kumquat Growers will host an open house at their packing house in St. Joseph on January 27 and 28 from 10am to 2pm.
If you’re looking for a family-friendly event in the Central Florida area, head on over to Dade City and experience the fun activities all revolving around yummy kumquats.

I dearly love homemade kumquat preserves and marmalade!
I do, too! Check http://www.kumquatgrowers.com to see what products they have. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, check out the University of Florida/IFAS website at http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ to find out how to preserve and can fresh fruits.
