Small Farms and Alternative Enterprises Conference Returns
|July 5, 2011||Posted by Melissa under Agriculture, Events, Farms, News|
For the third year in a row, the Florida Small Farms and Alternative Enterprises Conference will be held at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee. Running July 15-17, 2011, it promises to be an event full of interesting seminars, exhibits, and delicious locally-grown food.
The Department is once again joining the University of Florida as one of the Sustaining Partners of the conference. According to the Small Farms website, Florida has more than 47,000 farms, 90 percent of which are small. The conference provides information about different ways to farm and alternative crops so that farmers learn about diversifying products or farm methods.
Seminar categories include protected agriculture, business & marketing, livestock, horticulture, organic & sustainable farming, and policy & regulations. For a breakdown of discussions, click here for the conference agenda.
If you’re at the conference, please stop by and visit the different Department booths. The Bureaus of Marketing and Development and Agricultural Dealer Licenses will be in Booths 600 and 602, Farm to School will be in Booth 501, and the Office of Agricultural Water Policy will be in Booth 503. We would love to see you there!
