Florida Ag Literacy Day Set for May 1
|February 17, 2012||Posted by Sarah under Agriculture, Events, Kids|
This year’s Florida Agriculture Literacy Day is scheduled for May 1 and will take place in classrooms all around the state. The organization Florida Agriculture in the Classroom is inviting industry volunteers to read its newest book to elementary school kids in honor of the 9th annual event.
This year’s book is the fourth of the Healthy Florida Farms series that educates children on the nutritional value of fruits, vegetables, dairy, beef, poultry and seafood products from Florida. Florida Agriculture in the Classroom will begin distributing books and lesson plans for teachers in March.
Registration to participate in the event has already began at Florida Agriculture in the Classroom’s website.
The deadline to register is April 16. Florida ag industry volunteers are invited to read at a local elementary school classroom on May 1 and are expected to schedule the readings themselves.
