Ag Literacy Day Soon

It’s almost here! Florida Agriculture Literacy Day is Tuesday, May 1, 2012.
To get you ready for the event, here are sample pages from the newest Florida Agriculture Literacy Day book, entitled “Healthy Florida Farms”.
Everyone loves the fresh food grown by farmers, raised by ranchers and caught by fisherman but not everybody knows which nutrients they supply our bodies. This book will teach students some valuable lessons about the health benefits of Florida fruit, vegetables, dairy, meats and seafood products.
We are sure you will want a copy of this adorable book to provide to the elementary school of your choice. Copies of the books, lesson plans for teachers, and bookmarks and other items for students will be distributed to volunteer readers. Registration for Florida Agriculture Literacy Day is already underway, in fact the deadline was April 16, 2012 for those who planned to read on May 1. But you may also read until the end of the school year. Just register two weeks before your event.
Don’t forget that Florida Agriculture in the Classroom is able to offer the books and materials for Agriculture Literacy Day free of charge because of the funding it receives from sales of the agriculture specialty license plate also known as the ‘Ag Tag.’
