Florida Melons Are In!

It is that awaited time of the year when Florida melons fill the supermarket stands. Dubbed as the lycopene leader (watermelon) and vitamin A king (cantaloupe) melons are some of the most favorite and refreshing treats of American families.

I love making honey dew –mint juice drinks at home like the ones my mother-in-law prepares for me when I come to visit.

Melons are packed with vitamins and minerals, their water and fiber content nourish our bodies and their color variety makes a great display on trays and dishes.

Florida ranks #2 in melon production in the U.S. and our melons are exported to Canada and the Caribbean.

Go get Florida melons at your favorite supermarket while supplies last. They’re usually grown from April thru July.

Check out these recipes for versatile ways to prepare them. You could grill them, add them on sandwiches, drinks, salsas, salads and so much more!

Which one is your favorite melon?
