Florida Plants for Canada

Florida supplies foliage, tropical plants, indoor and outdoor plants to garden centers and nurseries all over Canada.  No wonder Apopka is considered the “Foliage Capital of the World”.

Our horticulture growers in Apopka and Homestead produce quality liners and pre-finished plant materials that are often sent by air or ground to meet the plant demand for the greenery that the Canadians adore.

Since 2010, the Department has provided Florida horticulture growers access to the Canadian market by participating at the Southern U.S Trade Association (SUSTA) pavilion at the Landscape Ontario’s Expo in Toronto.

This year we expanded our promotion to host a Canadian horticulture buyer trade mission in central Florida on July 9-10. The participating buyers have expressed interest in the following plant materials:

  • foliage, hanging baskets, seasonal flowering plant
  • annuals, grasses
  • perennials, shrubs and trees, ornamental grasses
  • container gardening
  • potted plants, kalanchoe, kalanchoe hybrids
  • somona, phalaenopsis

We will continue to participate at the Landscape Ontario’s Expo in Toronto on October 17-18, 2012. For more information about our horticulture export initiatives to Canada please email Marisol.Alvares@freshfromflorida.com or visit SUSTA.
