“Fresh From Florida” Weekend at Epcot – Florida Classic Growers

This year we were thrilled to have Florida Classic Growers joining us for the first time at “Fresh From Florida” Weekend at Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival. Florida Classic Growers produces and markets Florida citrus (grapefruit, oranges and tangerines) and Florida peaches.
The company markets for the Dundee Citrus Growers Association and the Florida Classic label. As a cooperative, it produces 18 different citrus varieties on more than 10,000 acres.
In 2011 Florida Classic Growers began a new initiative with peaches. Florida peaches are a low-chill variety, which means that they require fewer chill hours (at or below 45 degrees F) to ripen than peaches commonly grown in other states and countries. They are harvested from April to June (in between seasons from Chile and Georgia/South Carolina), so they fill a void. Additionally, they are delicious! It was great having Florida Classic Growers join us this year. Check out the website at www.flclassic.com for more information.
