National French Fries Day

Friday, July 13 is National French Fries Day! Did you know that you can celebrate the special day with Florida-grown potatoes? The harvest season for Florida potatoes is primarily January through July, and they are predominantly grown in North Florida, although they can be grown in other places around the state.
According to the Nutrient Data Laboratory, a small red potato has only 119 calories and almostĀ 3 grams of fiber. Potatoes are chock full of potassium, plus they taste great!
We have a lot of yummy potato recipes on our website (www.florida-agriculture.com), but in honor of National French Fries Day, check out this recipe, which calls for two rounds in the fryer for optimal taste and texture. However you like them, there’s still time this season to get delicious Florida-grown potatoes.
Maybe Friday the 13th is lucky after all…
