The City of Apopka lauches the grand opening of Apopka Foliage & Fresh Market on October 6, from 8am-1pm, at Kit Land Nelson Park, 10 North Forest Drive, Apopka FL 32704.
Long & Scott Farms will offer the largest Community Supported Agriculture program in Central Florida at the market with 100 shares. The farm and members share in the risks and benefits of food production in a typical CSA. The program, dubbed Scott’s Produce Club, trumps in size to other area CSA’s, which average 20-40 shares. In Scott’s Produce Club, members pay at the beginning of the season for a share of the farm, then receive weekly shares of produce in a basket or half basket that can be picked up at the Apopka Foliage & Fresh Market or at Long & Scott Farms. Long & Scott Farms produces Zellwood Sweet Corn, pickle cucumbers and both red & green cabbage, along with a variety of other produce. Long & Scott Farms celebrates its 50th anniversary next year.
Other vendors participating in the market include: AnnaLees Fudge, Bark-A-Licious, Blessed Bean Coffee, Butchers Pantry, Dansk Farms, Grower Jim, Heavenly Flan, It’s Kettle Corn, Leaves and Roots, Liner Patch, Lone Wolf Growers, Long & Scott Farms, Marcia Smith, Olive Tree Growers, Rex Begonias, Sweet Dreams Pastry, The Vineyard at Lovelane, Winter Park Honey, and introduc-ing Le Muffinette by Yum Yum. The food truck Local Yolk’l will be on site serving brunch. A scavenger hunt will take place the week leading up to October 6th in the Apopka area.
The Apopka Foliage & Fresh Market will operate every Saturday, from October through May, 8am-1pm.
