The 2012 National Association of Extension 4-H Agents Conference was hosted by Florida this year. The event, which drew participants from as far away as Iraq and Kenya, was held in Orlando, Florida, at the beautiful Hilton in Walt Disney World. Over 1,200 4-H Extension Agents were able reconnect with friends and colleagues while they discovered Florida’s heritage and diversity through tours and workshops held by a variety of educational outreach organizations. They took part in lectures and research workshops as they toured central Florida agribusinesses and natural resource destinations during the “Seminar on Wheels” event.
A dinner of boiled shrimp, fried catfish, greens and desserts featuring Florida fruit and nut commodities provided a southern welcome during the “Taste of Florida Event.” Florida agribusiness members and Division of Marketing and Development staff were on hand to provide commodity samples and nutrition education curriculum material including “Xtreme Cuisine Cooking School.”
