A few weeks ago, I was looking for unique ways to feature Florida products and I came across this fantastic, and very simple “recipe” for strawberries. All you need are a container or two of Florida strawberries, toasted (black) sesame seeds, and a container of heavy whipping cream. I’ve attempted this recipe twice and I highly, very highly actually, recommend that you whip your own cream and not use a store-bought prewhipped cream or anything like that. The heavy whipping cream holds up much better than the oily stuff. Now on the to fun part! Pictures and witty one-liners about the process.
Cut off the top of the strawberries.
Now slice a small piece off the other end of the berries.
This is what it should look like. Whip your heavy cream in a bowl with a hand mixer. Use a plastic bag and a pastry tip to create Santa’s beard and hat.
The hat. Just a dab will do!
Looks good, but something’s missing…eyes…
Here, I put a few drops of water on the end of the Q-tip to make the sesame seeds stick and then placed them where I wanted them on the face. I also used a small wooden skewer to move the seeds around a little bit to find the right placement.
We’ve got a roomful of Santas.
Roll Call! Is everyone here?
Why is everyone staring at me?
Oh great, now there’s a peanut gallery…
I promise I’m saying important things!
Alright, Foxtrot Bear Right. That’s the play we’re running. “Break!”
I call it strawberry bowling.
You might be making me walk the plank, but I’m taking the sword with me!
