Agritourism Spotlight – Native Gardens Nursery
|April 3, 2015||Posted by Melissa under Business, Events, Gardening, Horticulture|
Native Gardens Nursery, located at 1660 County Road 13A S in Elkton (just west of St. Augustine), is hosting an open house on April 10 and 11 to showcase the beautiful plants it produces. According to the nursery’s own Master Gardener Renee Stambaugh, the timing is perfect to focus on native Florida blueberries, noting “For a beautiful spring and summer display, it is critical to plant your native blueberries at this time.”
Using native plants is beneficial to the environment and usually results in much lower maintenance for the gardener. Native Florida blueberries are popular in Florida landscapes because the blossoms are pretty and their nectar draws butterflies into the garden. Both Lowbush and Highbush varieties can enhance the landscaping design around the home.
The nursery opens its doors for visitors the second Saturday of each month and the Friday before, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. For more information about Native Gardens Nursery, go to www.nativeplantconsulting.com.
