Florida Agriculture Literacy Day was held on Tuesday April 21, but there is still time to read in a classroom this school year. Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture, Adam H. Putnam read a new non-fiction children’s book that highlighted Florida’s livestock and poultry industries to 4th grade students from Governor’s Charter Academy in the Senate Chambers of Florida’s Historic Capitol.
In the book ‘Drive Through Florida: Livestock and Poultry,’ an animated red truck named ‘Ole Red’ takes students on a tour of Florida’s beef, dairy, poultry, swine, equine, sheep and goat industries.
If you would like to read the book this school year, contact a school in your area and set up a date and time to read. Then visit www.agtag.org to order the book and other related educational material. The children in your community will thank you for what they learn.
